Welcome to social.myocci.social, the official Friendica instance of the Old Catholic Churches International (OCCI). By accessing or using this service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the platform.

1. Purpose of This Service


social.myocci.social exists to:

  • Foster respectful, community-centered conversation
  • Promote values of faith, justice, human dignity, and compassion
  • Provide a safe environment free of harassment and discrimination

The instance is open to all who agree to these Terms, regardless of faith background.

2. Eligibility


By using this service, you affirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old (or meet local legal age requirements)
  • You have the legal capacity to agree to these terms
  • You will follow these Terms and all applicable laws

3. User Conduct Expectations


3.1 Prohibited Content

The following are not allowed:

  • Harassment, hate speech, or targeted abuse
  • Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, or national origin
  • Threats, intimidation, or incitement of violence
  • Pornographic or sexually explicit content
  • Doxxing or sharing private information without consent
  • Illegal content or activity under U.S. law or your own jurisdiction
  • Malicious software, phishing, or harmful technical behavior

3.2 Prohibited Behavior

Users may not:

  • Impersonate individuals or institutions
  • Create automated/spam accounts
  • Engage in disruptive, abusive, or harmful conduct
  • Undermine the safety or functioning of the platform

3.3 Faith Context

As a platform hosted by a Christian denomination:

  • Respectful interfaith and theological dialogue is welcome
  • Proselytizing that is coercive, hostile, or harassing is prohibited
  • Anti-religious harassment is not tolerated

4. Accounts

4.1 Registration

Users must provide accurate information during registration and keep it current.

4.2 Suspension and Removal

Administrators may:

  • Issue warnings
  • Temporarily suspend accounts
  • Permanently remove accounts

This may occur for violations of these Terms or for behavior harmful to the community. Moderator decisions may be final and not subject to appeal.

4.3 Voluntary Deletion

Users may delete their accounts at any time. Deleted data may persist in backups for a limited period.

5. Content Ownership and Licensing

You retain ownership of the content you create.

By posting, you grant social.myocci.social a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and distribute your content within the Friendica network.

When interacting with users on other instances, your posts may be copied, stored, or archived beyond our control.

6. Privacy and Data Use

6.1 Data Collected

We may collect:

  • Registration details
  • IP addresses and technical logs
  • Public posts and uploaded media
  • Security and moderation-related data

6.2 How Data Is Used

Data is used to:

  • Operate and improve the service
  • Enforce community standards
  • Ensure security and legal compliance

6.3 Data Sharing

We do not sell user data.

Data may be shared:

  • As part of normal federation to other Mastodon instances
  • With law enforcement when legally required

6.4 Disclaimer

No system is fully secure. Users share content at their own risk.

7. Federation with Other Servers

By posting on this instance, you understand:

  • Your content may federate to other servers with different moderation policies
  • Deleted posts may not be deleted from remote instances
  • We may block or limit federation with servers that promote hate, extremism, harassment, or harmful behaviors

8. Service Availability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.”

We cannot guarantee:

  • Continuous uptime
  • Freedom from data loss
  • Immediate restoration of service
  • Use of this service is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

social.myocci.social, its administrators, and the OCCI are not liable for:

  • Damages resulting from use or inability to use the service
  • Content posted by users
  • Loss of data
  • Interactions or disputes between users

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use of the platform indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.

Rules

  1. No Harassment or Hate Speech: Do not engage in harassment, bullying, threats, or hate speech of any kind.

  7. No Spam, Bots, or Malicious Behavior: Spam, automated accounts, deceptive activity, malware, and phishing are strictly forbidden.
  8. No Impersonation: Do not impersonate individuals, clergy, institutions, or organizations.
  9. Respectful Faith Engagement: Theological discussion is welcome; coercive proselytizing or anti-religious harassment is not.
  10. Content Warnings Required When Appropriate: Use content warnings for distressing, graphic, political, or potentially sensitive material.
  11. Moderation Decisions Are Final: Administrators may suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules or undermine community safety.
  12. Federation Limits May Apply: We may defederate or block instances that promote hate, extremism, harassment, or harmful activity.
